Northlakes Academy Child Development Center

43 Years of Excellence

Northlakes Academy Child Development Center opened its doors in August of 1981. We are a North Carolina Star Rated licensed center, receiving a 5 star accreditation based on staff education and program standards. Our purpose is to provide a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for children to learn and grow. We also participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program and therefore, serve healthy and nutritious meals and snacks.

More Than Daycare; No Babysitting Allowed

The first 2000 days of a child’s life is a critical period of child development. These early years set the foundation for all the years to follow. We know from research children learn best while at play. Jack Shonkoff, a Harvard pediatrician, says that “brains are built not born.”

As a 5 star child development center, the staff of Northlakes Academy knows what it takes to build a strong foundation; good health, strong families and quality learning experiences.  We also understand the importance of smaller class sizes; for this reason we choose to do voluntary enhanced ratios.  This means that Northlakes Academy’s classrooms have the following ratios of teacher to children: Nursery 1:4, Toddlers 1:5, Twos' 1:8, Threes' 1:9, Fours 1:12, and After School/Summer is 1:14.

We utilize the Lillio app for daily communication between our classes & families. There is a private section for individual children portfolios where teachers can record developmental mile stones for parents to view.

Child Care Services

Northlakes Academy Child Development Center accepts children 6 weeks to 12 years old. We supply baby food, wipes, sheets and bibs for all infants. There is a designated area outside the infant room for moms who choose to breast feed their baby. Our child care center uses BPA –free sippy cups and plates for infants and toddlers. Each classroom in our child care facility does a portfolio for each child in our care.
